How counselling can help
FROM time to time it may be that we feel overwhelmed and unable to cope with aspects of life; we can feel distressed, worried or anxious either about a specific issue or perhaps as a general mood.
The therapeutic process helps to regain balance and perspective. A series of sessions can encourage fresh insights and approaches to choices, helping with life’s challenges, frustrations and disappointments.
New or reawakened insights, heightened awareness and increased self knowledge can offer broader, more varied opportunities to make the most of life.
Self knowledge instills self belief and fresh confidence – a confidence that challenges old habits and opens new horizons.
“If you are not failing every now and again, it’s a sign that you are not doing anything very innovative”
Woody Allen (1935-present)
About Me
My approach as a therapist is relational, seeking common ground with, and an understanding of, clients’ perspectives. My training is based on an Integrative approach, which encompasses several differing, yet connectable, themes and theories in psychology.
I have been in full time private practice since 2003 and much of my client work is individual and couples counselling. Clients come from all over Surrey and south west London as well as locally from Epsom, Kingston, Esher, Weybridge and Dorking areas.
I am a consultant manager with the Epsom Counselling Service. My work with the ECS includes advising on policy, assessment and general management. It also involves: therapy work within small groups to develop self awareness, couples counselling and facilitating seminars and workshops.
Additionally I am employed as a sessional external assessor at a BACP accredited counselling college, in North Surrey, with students studying courses to degree level.
